book of eli.

Denzel as a hobo who can slice your face off in the name of the Almighty. What's not to love?

Now, i've noticed that some people really love this and others really really hated it. Im happy to admit that I can be wrong about flicks from time to time so if you've had a chance to see it, I'd love to know what you thought in the comments section. Lets face it, debating movies is the fun part:) try not to hate on me too much, tho:)

And - as always - you can subscribe to the reviews at the triple j movies podcast. (No iTunes? head here)

haven't seen it but damn I'm going to voice my inaccurate opinion! It looks like an awesome movie aside from how I wouldn't give a crap if it was the last bible on earth! its a bible! who needs it! and why doesn't DW just let someone else copy it or something lame...

How unfortunate for the makers of The Book of Eli that it came out within a few months of the road. The two movies essentially have the same plot, except The Book of Eli whacks in a bit of religion, and some inappropriate and misplaced humour. They ask the same question - what will the world be like when we manage to consume absolutely everything - but the Book of Eli not only assumes that religion is what is worth saving, but manages to trivialise the pursuit of anything else. Sure, they try to save the plot by claiming it's actually about saving the history of knowledge, but it just doesn't really fly. In my opinion - don't bother - just go see The Road. Or better yet - read the book first!

I think it was implied in the film that the world is a wasteland because of a religious war. This is why everyone wants the book, because they believe it holds the psychological power equivalent to the power which destroyed the world.
