I agree the performances are strong - Mo'nique is awesome in her ugliness while Carey's impressiveness is due to her transformation to ordinariness. I can understand someone giving this four stars but, unlike you Marc, I found the bleakness oppressive. I felt like Daniels was bashing the audience over the head. How low can we go? Not just morbidly obese at 16 but she's pregnant. Oh, and she already has another child. And all the other revelations that just keep getting more and more obnoxious. For me, there seemed to be no point other than to test the audience's endurance.
