I know it's an amazing thought... Or at least it was in 1981. Below is a truly awesome news report about the feint possibility of reading news on the web. It's a particularly prescient clip given the current state of newspapers - a condition that, at best, could be characterised as a total, unsalvageable apocalypse from which few will survive and not without some serious robocop-style morphing.
dr prawn = awesome

i am bob... geldof
Ok, so I stupidly got myself parked into the back of the Flickerfest parking lot but while I waited around I caught this excellent short film called I Am Bob. It stars Bob Geldof as himself when he gets stuck in a country town lookalike competition. He has no money on him so to get himself home he must compete... as himself. And there's no guarantee that he'll win either:) it ends with a killer musical performance.

short films a plenty...
So I've been on the Flickerfest jury for 2009. Honestly, this is the most ridiculously hard judging gig I've ever had. Firstly because I'm watching upwards of 1000 minutes of film in less than 7 days. Secondly - and more importantly - the films are almost universally brilliant.
Yes there's a fair share of "Awkward Loner + Artful Silence + Girl = Short Film" but even those flicks are mostly well-executed. Some of the best movies have been associated with Italy's Web+TV hub Qoob.tv. I particularly love David Michod's Netherland Dwarf about a kid, a dad and a bunny rabbit. It's been selected for Sundance. I'd love to post it online for you but I can't find it just yet. I can however post I Love Sarah Jane by one of Michod's collaborators Spencer Susser. It's a zombie flick love story starring one of Australia's best young actresses Mia Wasikowska (In Treatment, Tim Burton's new Alice in Wonderland). Check it out (Whack it in full-screen too)
PS - I really need to redesign this site to be wider. Apologies:)
