hungry beast. coming soon.

Finally I can talk about this without being told-off!

So on September 30 on ABC1, right after Spicks & Specks at 9pm, a brand new TV show will start. It'll be called Hungry Beast. It'll be an alternative take on news, media & culture - a mix of honest-to-god serious reporting, outright comedy and a shitload of strange random information, ideas and objects that hopefully you didn't know about.

Oh, and I'll be a part of it. Excactly 1/19th of it, in fact. See...

Okay, I'm aware this sounds all a bit vague. The name is a reference to the media and how it is a hungry beast that is never satisfied. We very nearly called it 'Nun's With Guns', so be grateful we went with this:) It's going to be an unusal show but having seen the stuff that's coming out of our team of 19 I'm damn excited.

Some of you might've heard of this show from its original name, Project Next. There was more than 1300 applicants. Executive Producer Andrew Denton, Supervising Producer Andy Nehl (Chaser, Beatbox, Blah Blah Blah) and a host of people who are much much smarter than me picked us from around the country.

Oddly, I hadn't even thought to apply for Project Next until I voiced the promo for the call-out on triple j. I was so fascinated by the concept that I downloaded the application. 4 coffees & 25 very indepth questions later, I knew I wanted in. Even wierder is the fact that Dan Ilic & I applied at the same time while we were working on our MICF show Massage My Medium. And now we're both doing the show together. *insert kizmet here*

I'm sure you'll read more about the application process (which was hillarious and roundly terrifying at the same time) when the publicity happens. I've probably written too much already.

But here's the really important thing: We want you to get involved. We want you to contribute to the show - and not in a lame/tokenistic/trolling way. Have you got something to say? Something that you reckon everyone around you needs to know? We're looking for contributors here.

Enjoy!

Nice one Mark. Did they shoot with the Red One to get the uber slow-motion shots?
